SUMMARY:New York Times Editorial\: Copyright and the First Amendment\, or Margaret Mitchell and John Seigenthaler
DESCRIPTION:When my publishers were sued by the Mitchell estate for 10 million dollars and I was falsely accused of piracy it was balm in Gilead to wake up and read this editorial in the New York Times. Thank God for the Old Gray Lady!  My sweet husband had the editorial blown up to gargantuan size. To this day it’s propped up on a chest in our living room.  My husband gave John Seigenthaler founder of the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt one just as big. Every chance I get to be anything like John Seigenthaler I take it. Seigenthaler is one of my heroes. He is and has been an ardent advocate of civil rights\, literally bloodied for his efforts\, and he is and long has been an ardent protector of free speech. When a judge in Georgia stopped the presses on my first novel\, I called John. Just hearing his voice reminds me to do the hard right thing and try to enjoy doing it.\n
