    Tuskegee Wardrobe: Brownies and Smithies

My black doll collection used to live on top of this wardrobe. I had a Beyonce fashion doll and a baby doll that looked like me. One year I inducted all of my dolls into a brownie troop and adorned them with real Brownie jewelry.
This wardrobe came from Tuskegee. Goggy bought it with her first paycheck. Originally she bought a Victrola. Her mother made her take it back and get something practical. She bought a bedroom set.
I love this wardrobe. It has a secret lock inside that you can only find with your fingers. The flowers draped over the top come from Northampton MA. They are wonderful fall flowers. The leaves are knitted. The flowers themselves are wonderfully muted shades. Inside I keep stationary and the dress I was christened in and Caroline was christened in. Someday soon we hope Aria will be christened in it. And I hope one of them puts this wardrobe in their apartment and it keeps travelling on.
